Hand-built stoneware dish that swirls inward to a lifted cup at its center. Made to hold a candle, and just as happy as a trinket dish, ring holder or ashtray.

For your consideration:
Inspired by a nearby trail lined with towering eucalyptus. Over time I came to know individual trees by the patterns in their bark, and I'd seek them out as I walked.
Three shades of clay are layered to mimic peeling bark over a twisted trunk. The interior is glazed in glossy soft black with hints of olive green and rust red. Suitable indoors or outdoors.

Hand-built stoneware bowl ringed with rounded spikes. The glossy interior runs from a cream rim to salmon at the center. The unglazed exterior shows the natural grain and flecks of the clay.
Sized for snacks, trinkets or jewelry. Food safe; hand washing recommended.

This sculpture was part of my exploration into themes within Persephone’s descent and emergence from the underworld. Specifically, the tension between ensnarement and support offered by our time below.
Each petal is carved to imply life and movement with a floating glaze of pomegranate and white. The chiseled roots at the base were finished with wax for a satin finish.
